Transdermal Verapamil 15% Gel Selected as a Top Ten Innovation in Podiatric Care by Podiatry Today.
August 10, 2007, San Antonio, TX- PDLabs' Transdermal Verapamil 15% Gel has been selected by Podiatry Today as one of the top 10 innovations in podiatry in their annual product review. The article highlighted the medications ability to reduce the pain that is associated with plantar fibromatosis and the study that is currently underway that demonstrates the medications ability to remodel and reduce the size of the associated fibromas.
Robert Schulte, DPM, the principal investigator of the study, was interviewed for the article and explained that "there are no other good options" for treating plantar fibromatosis and that the topical application of the medication is advantageous. Dr. Schulte "could not recall one patient that did not have pain reduction with the gel."
"We are pleased that our medication was selected by Podiatry Today," said Jerry Easterling, CEO of PDLabs. "Our goal is to provide non-invasive treatment options to Podiatrists for conditions such as plantar fibromatosis that can be challenging to treat. We look forward to continuing our commitment to podiatry."
PDLabs primary focus is to develop non-invasive treatments for fibrotic tissue disorders. The company is currently conducting pilot studies for other conditions that, if successful, will have applications in podiatry and dermatology.
